EMDR THERAPY

Gentle healing for trauma, anxiety and overwhelming life experiences.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a research-supported psychotherapy that helps the brain and nervous system process experiences that feel "stuck".

When something overwhelming happens, the mind may store the memory in a way that keeps the body reacting as if the event is still present. EMDR supports the natural healing process of the brain so memories can be integrated with less emotional intensity, more clarity and a greater sense of safety.

How EMDR works.....

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, buzzers, alternating sounds) while you remain grounded in the present moment. This allows the brain to:

  • process difficult memories in a safe way

  • reduce emotional distress and somatic reaction

  • shift negative beliefs, (such as "I'm not worthy", "I don't belong" to "I am worthy" , "I do belong"

  • restore a sense of calm, strength, self-empowerment and self-trust

You are always in control of the pace. EMDR is not about reliving trauma, but about helping the nervous system complete what was left unfinished.

EMDR is effective for many concerns, including:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Childhood experiences that still feel painful

  • Grief and loss

  • Relationship wounds

  • Medical or birth trauma

  • Disturbing memories, dreams, body sensations

  • Feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you

If you are unsure whether EMDR is right for you, we can explore this together gently.

A calm and resourced approach

Before any trauma processing begins, we focus on:

  • building safety and trust

  • strengthening grounding and regulation skills

  • creating internal resources for stability

This preparation phase is essential and may take time. Healing happens at the speed of safety, never pressure.
