Crystal provides couples counselling employing strategies based on Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Goals include: disarming conflict; removing barriers to respect and intimacy; creating empathy and understanding.
The goal is to support couples in their relational goals and find ways to repair and renew relationships. In couples therapy, communication tools and strategies will be introduced to help work through conflict while planning and investing in the future.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a statistically proven 8-phase method used for trauma therapy. EMDR Therapy asks the client to retain dual-attention by being grounded in the present while allowing the body to feel the feelings in “trauma time”. The greatest advantage of EMDR Therapy over other types of therapy is that it begins with the root cause of the problem.
EMDR Therapy is not a fit for all. Dual attention (reprocessing of the traumatic material) is phase 4 of the 8 phases. Some people require resourcing, (phase 2) for many months or several years. All phases are equally important.
Both Nikki and Crystal are certified EMDR Therapists and are registered and in good standing with the EMDR International Association, (EMDRIA).
If you need support, but can’t attend an in-person appointment, work full-time as a parent and/or caregiver or reside in a rural area, virtual therapy could be a fit.
Online counselling allows us to provide therapy via live and confidential video conferencing. This can be done anywhere you have a computer or smartphone. Online appointments can be beneficial if in-person appointments are not possible.
On-line therapy provides the convenience of therapy in a location of your choosing. It also allows you to receive support in an efficient and timely manner.
